Evaluation Criteria for CLI-Based Tools


The scoring methodology for CLI-based OSINT tools assigns a score of 0-None (or Bad), 0.5-Decent (Needs Improvements) or 1-Great to each criterion below. Click on any top 10 entry to view its detailed score.

  • Number of Search Artifacts, e.g. Email, Username, Phone Number etc.
  • Last GitHub Commit, i.e. at least one update in the last 6 mo.
  • Terminal Output, i.e. the look and feel of the terminal output.
  • Usability, i.e. CLI tool is straightforward to use even for non-techies.
  • Documentation, i.e. how-to, complete documentation or proper README.
  • Social Media, i.e. developer is actively involved in OSINT communities.
  • APIs Required, i.e. the less paid APIs required by the tool, the better.

Note! For equal scores, tools are currently shown in alphabetical order. This may change in the future by assigning a certain weight to specific criteria.
